Ronald flicked through the menu for show, he already knew what he was getting. He quickly moved his attention onto the drinks list, this place was known for getting in some of the finest wines around. He looked up and smiled.

“Recommend? Hmm I dunno, I’m getting  the lasagne it’s my favourite. Oh, would you like to share a bottle of wine with me?” The blonde rested his head on his hands and kept looked over at the brunette sat opposite. Still a little disbelieving that he was really sat in a restaurant with William, the man he’d been pining after for a fair while.

“Ah, well I believe I’ll try that, then.” William said, rather softly. It was safe, not out of William’s restricting comfort zone. Sharing a bottle of wine, however, was not. The department head felt a wave of hot embarrassment slide from his neck up to his cheeks. “Oh, well. That is to say, I… I don’t really drink, at least I haven’t in at least half a century.” he explained. He didn’t know what would be more embarrassing, not drinking at all, or drinking and ending up drunk after half a glass. He didn’t put the idea past him.

It felt as though the flush to his face deepened at the look Ronald gave him. Certainly, it shouldn’t have been unusual. They were sitting face to face and talking with one another, after all. Even so, he found he wasn’t exactly used to being looked at. Even as a field reaper, it paid off to stay out of sight. He knew he was being foolish, so he tried to wave away his apprehension. It was nothing to waste so much energy over. “Well, perhaps I’ll have a bit.” he decided after a moment. Perhaps it would do well to calm his nerves.
